Santander: Bank tests blockchain platform for used cars in Brazil

Major international bank Santander continues to explore the benefits of blockchain technology. Now the bank uses the technology for vehicle trading and vehicle registration.

Santander Brasil is testing a blockchain-based tokenization platform for transferring ownership of used cars in Brazil, Cointelegraph Brasil reported Oct. 19 .

The platform aims to automate the process of transferring ownership. Smart contracts are used for this purpose, where delivery is made against payment. Once payment has been made, ownership is then automatically transferred.

Santander developed this solution in cooperation with Parfin. This is a major digital custody and Web3 infrastructure provider in Latin America.

According to Alex Buelau, Parfin's co-founder and chief technology officer, the platform will be based on a proprietary blockchain network built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. However, unlike Ethereum, the system's blockchain will be permissioned or private, meaning it will not be publicly accessible.

Santander's project is one of the initiatives selected by the Bank of Brazil's Financial Innovation Laboratory (LIFT). Acting as a project incubator, the lift intends to use the digital real, a central bank digital currency of Brazil, due to be released in 2024. Santander has already presented a demo platform to the central bank that will be used to test real transactions in the near future.

Jayme Chataque, Open Finance Superintendent at Santander, explained the same technology could also be used for property sales and registration. "It's more convenient and safer for both the buyer and the seller. You make two transactions into one," he said.

Buelau explained that regulation is one of the hurdles on the road to mass adoption of blockchain technology:

"Technology is evolving faster than regulation. [...] The challenge is in regulation. But Brazil is a step ahead in that regard, the authorities are brave, so it could happen to us sooner than we thought."

Santander Brasil is the Brazilian unit of the largest Spanish commercial bank, Banco Santander. The bank is known for its crypto-friendly stance. CEO Mario Leão announced earlier this year that Santander Brasil would like to offer crypto trading.

Cardano price forecast – price breaks out! Are we near $1.5 soon?

In our last Cardano price prediction , we wrote that the price could break out soon. The reason for this was a symmetrical triangle. This triangle was performed after the crash, so we expected the price to break down. But now the course has broken out of the triangle in a bullish manner. But how far could the course rise or what is the goal? Today we will explain to you about the Cardano course ! Cardano price broke out of the triangle and was able to rally to the $1.19 resistance. We tested this resistance, and a short time later the price was sold off. The triangle's target was around $1.23, so we now believe the price has completed the target. As a result, we no longer expect a further increase. Instead, the price could now descend and possibly form new lows. If the price breaks the $1.19 resistance, the price could rally to around $1.5. There is the next resistance where the Cardano price could bounce. If Cardano price fails to break the $1.19 resistance, we would expect the p...

Tesla Beats Sales Expectations - Bitcoin Holdings Remain Flat

Cardano founder doubts Bitcoin's future as world reserve currency

Cardano's founder doesn't believe Bitcoin has what it takes to become the world's leading currency. Charles Hoskinson stated in a recent interview that he didn't think Bitcoin would become the world reserve currency. According to the founder of Cardano, a cryptocurrency with smart contract features would become the global reserve currency. Hoskinson believes Cardano or Ethereum would become the world reserve currency. A global reserve currency must offer services like smart contracts, metadata standards, and improved throughput that complete enormous transactions per second. According to the Cardano founder , the scarcity of Bitcoin is due to the high cost of production: "If you make paintings, one of which you have to paint by hand and the other by machine, and both look the same and the demand for both is the same, then the effort for one is a thousand times greater than for the other." Hoskinson spoke about Bitcoin's massive energy consumption, addin...
