After the Ethereum merge Zcash and Dogecoin on Proof of Stake? Vitalik Buterin hopes so

Ethereum has been running on Proof of Stake since the September 15 merge . Now the founder Vitalik Buterin says: Other large blockchains should follow the example.

He hopes that Zcash and Dogecoin will also change their model to Proof of Stake, the 28-year-old said in an interview.

Literally: “As PoS matures now, I would expect it to gain legitimacy over time. I hope Zcash and Dogecoin move to PoS soon.”

So far, they both run blockchains on Proof of Work. This is considered to be particularly energy-hungry because of the need for mining.

Dogecoin is the 10th most valuable memecoin in the crypto rankings, with a market cap of nearly $9 billion.

Zcash is considered one of the top privacy tokens, ranking 61st in crypto, with a market cap of $750 million.
