Penguin painting sells for more than $625,000

On Monday, a “Pudgy Penguin” NFT went over the digital counter for 400 ETH, which is about $625,000. The penguin collection has been on the market since June 2021, but is much less well known to the general public than, for example, the NFTs around the Bored Apes Yacht Club. The recent purchase is remarkable - especially since the industry is in a crisis.

Because while investors are still clinging to cryptocurrencies like bitcoin despite the crash – never in history have there been more wallets holding BTCs for more than a year – the mood in the NFT market is bleak. Not only the sales on the trading platforms prove this, but also the latest survey data (Bloomberg): almost every fourth investor is convinced that cryptocurrencies are the future, but NFTs are only viewed by 9 percent as promising investment objects. The buyer of the penguin, specifically the digital proof of ownership of the picture, seems to see it differently.

Meanwhile, the purchase is making waves. The purchase price “400 ETH” is currently trending on Twitter. Many users are amazed at the transaction. It is doubtful whether media attention will give the NFT industry a boost again. Many simply see no benefit in it, the search queries go into the basement.

Even in the crypto scene itself, not everyone is convinced. Just a few days ago, one of the founding fathers of the DAO left, Stephen Tual, the Ethereum Foundation. He shared via Reddit that he no longer identified with the space. He also complained about "Prada-wearing crypto yuppies" who "climb over homeless people on their way to their plush offices while complaining that their decaffeinated soy latte is too cold." He also spoke of a "circus of centralized NFTs, endless Ponzi scams" and more. Against this background, it seems impossible that he can gain anything from the purchase of a penguin NFT for more than 625,000 US dollars – and a large number of people feel the same way, especially in times when citizens are increasingly faced with inflation get into financial difficulties.

The 5 largest platforms for non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles

Since the beginning of 2021, non-fungible tokens (NFT) have had no holding back and the sector is setting new records almost every day.  More and more artists, stars and brands are realizing the potential - NFT are well on their way to catapulting the crypto space into the mainstream.  But which collectibles are currently the most popular? What are NFT? NFT are unique tokens that cannot be exchanged one-for-one for an equivalent token.  Any asset that is tokenizable can be an NFT.  This includes, for example, (digital) works of art, trading cards, game items and crypto domains.  Theoretically, however, real estate or securities can also be mapped as NFT. NFTs can be used to transparently map ownership structures on a public blockchain.  This allows them to store value just like real objects, even if additional copies are easy to make.  For example, the original picture of the Mona Lisa is significantly more valuable than a photo, as everyone kno...

CARDALONIA: THE CARDANO METAVERSE OPENS THE GATES!

Have you ever been to Cardalonia? With these words, the Cardano Metaverse called Cardalonia starts the gates. In this 3D world, developers and users can interact with each other. First of all, users have to create an individual character with which they can move online. After that you can enter one of the worlds built by developers with this character. You can also purchase your own land in the Cardano Metaverse via the marketplaces in Cardalonia . This is secured by Cardano's blockchain technology and therefore offers a relatively secure transfer of ownership. Since these are only digital plots of land, it is not yet entirely clear when the plots of land are purchased whether they can also be sold again in the future. A possible profit cannot be estimated at the moment. In Cardalonia, the cryptocurrency Lonia is used. The maximum amount of tokens in circulation is 100,000,000. The team consists of Alice Sand (Co-Founder), Vasil Air (CTO) and Dustan Water (Fullstack Developer). T...

Cardano: This is the vision that founder Charles Hoskinson has
