Crypto Stamp Art: Austrian Post starts NFT sale via Tokapi

 


Austrian Post , together with Portuguese NFT trading platform Tokapi, has launched the sale of the Crypto Stamp Art collection powered by the Ethereum blockchain, Tokapi said in a July 22 press release . A total of 2,500 NFT Mystery Boxes have been unlocked for trading. 


A traditional block of special stamps matching the NFTs was presented to the public on July 1st. This means that a digital version of the stamps will go on sale three weeks after the premiere. 


NFT purchase without crypto

The models for the new special stamps and their accompanying Crypto Stamp Art collection are the classic Merkur newspaper stamps from 1851, which are given a digital interpretation in this collection. While the original block of special stamps was designed by engraver Josef Axmann using the copper engraving process, the new edition comes from Pr1mal Cypher, an Austrian digital artist and NFT specialist.


With the start-up Tokapi, Austrian Post got a trading partner that enables the purchase of non-fungible tokens ( NFT ) without the use of cryptocurrencies via instant transfer or credit card. Tokapi was founded in 2021 by the three Austrians Michael Beches, Daniel Lenikus and Dominik Myczkowski and is based in Lisbon. 


After the public beta phase last year, during which the company gave away NTFs to the beta testers, the portal is now in live operation. As the launch platform for the new product line of the Crypto Stamp Art Collection, it was possible to increase awareness beyond Austria in a very short time.


Special stamps and mystery boxes

The boxes for sale contain up to four NFTs in different color values. With the purchase of the boxes, customers receive the special art stamp as well as a printed and limited special stamp that can only be obtained in connection with a mystery box. The current price for a box on the Tokapi platform is 500 euros.


The block of special stamps itself is also available independently of the Crypto Stamp Art collection in all post offices, the Austrian Post online shop and their collectors service. With a circulation of 150,000 copies, it has a nominal value of 3.70 euros.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726. So if reports are correct, over $40 million worth of NFTs were stolen in the attack.
