Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Tether, has confirmed via Twitter that the website tether.io is currently under a DDOS attack.
The number of website requests suddenly increased from 2,000 to eight million requests every five minutes over the weekend.
Ardoino confirmed that “although the attack has weakened recently”, the website of the largest stablecoin provider will keep its installed additional security measures activated for the time being in order to reduce further potential risks.
According to the CTO, the additional security measures do not affect the operation of the company homepage or the use of the stablecoins USDT, EURT, MXNT and CHNT.
Tether.io has recently hit the headlines several times because of its lack of transparency in disclosing the backing of its stablecoins.
