Shopify Presents Tokengate: Exclusive Merchandise for NFT Owners

 


As part of several connect-to-consumer initiatives developed by Shopify this year, the platform aims to enable merchants to connect with fans and increase sales by creating exclusive merchandise for token holders . The initiative called "Tokengate" is available in beta.



Merchants can create a Tokengate store directly in the Shopify app or integrate the functionality directly into the store. Buyers will then need to connect their crypto wallet and prove ownership of the respective NFTs in order to purchase Tokengate merchandise or gain access to exclusive events. The feature serves as an interface between NFT communities and the brands on the platform. 


Additionally, sellers can collaborate with other brands for planned NFT drops and with Shopify's merchandising partners on premium products. In addition, providers can mint their own NFTs on well-known blockchains such as Ethereum ( ETH ), Polygon ( MATIC ), Solana ( SOL ) and Flow (FLOW). They can then list and sell them directly in their store.


The beta phase is only available to select retailers with an NFT collection and by invitation only. Neither the seller nor the buyer need to pay with cryptocurrencies to buy NFTs. Payments can be made using Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, various crypto payment gateways, and credit or debit cards. Buyers can receive their NFTs via email and transfer them directly to their wallet.


Doodles co-founder Evan Keast, whose NFT project also participates in the initiative, commented:
