New York's Times Square is moving into the Metaverse

 


Time Magazine announced a collaboration with the Metaverse project The Sandbox.

As a joint project, Times Square will be recreated in the virtual world.

"Times Square will emerge on the TIME site in The Sandbox as a place of encounter, art and commerce inspired by the visual spirit and energy of New York City's iconic neighborhood," according to the joint press statement .

"Our goal is to create a destination that will be the heart of the metaverse," said TIME President Keith A. Grossman.

The digital Times Square is said to be “an inclusive environment” that offers “virtual access to discussions, events, demonstrations of TIME Studios projects and educational experiences”.

Time Magazine is considered to be crypto-affine and has been allowing payments via Bitcoin since last year. Reserves in cryptocurrencies were also built up. More about this here .
