Much Wow: Chipotle Now Accepts Bitcoin and Dogecoin Payments

Mexican restaurant chain Chipotle has announced that customers can now make payments in Bitcoin, Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies through Flexa. According to a post by Flexa, customers at Mexican restaurant chain Chipotle can now pay with digital currencies.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is an American chain of quick service restaurants that operates in a number of countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Canada.

Users can now pay with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Dogecoin at any of the 2,975+ restaurants across the United States. The announcement does not yet mention the support for the other countries.

Flexa is a purely digital payment network that allows users to easily spend their digital currencies in physical stores. The payment provider is already integrated with the popular apps Gemini and SPEDN, Dash Wallet, Argent and others are also working on adding it in the near future.

Stores in the United States that accept Flexa payments include Nordstrom, GameStop, Lowe's, and Petco (and now Chipotle joins the list).

Flexa currently supports 98 currencies including coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin. Late last year, Shiba Inu was also added to the service. To celebrate Chipotle's support of the payment network, users will receive a 10% discount on their next purchase from the Mexican chain when they pay with a Flexa-enabled app.

"All of us here at Flexa are incredibly excited to be working with the Chipotle team to drive digital payment innovation and make enjoying real, healthy food even easier," the post reads. “We look forward to enabling more payment options together in the near future.”

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726.
