First airline ticket NFT sold for a record amount

 


Air Europa has sold the world's first flight ticket in NFT. It is also the most expensive ticket in commercial aviation.

The price was almost one million US dollars.

The ticket was created on the blockchain Algorand .

"We see this as a bet on the future that will enable us to apply a new level of service experience that will transform what we offer to customers," explains Valentín Lago, CEO of Air Europa, in a press release.

The campaign was created in cooperation with TravelX , a travel company that works with the blockchain.

Air Europa is the third largest airline of Spain.

Norwegian Airline has been accepting Bitcoin as a payment method since 2019.
