NFL hands out free NFTs to Finals attendees

 


After the football league experimented with digital images for tickets during the season, this "success" will be continued in the Super Bowl.


The American football league NFL announced this week that every fan who was able to get hold of one of the coveted tickets for this year's Super Bowl on February 13th in Los Angeles will receive an associated Non-Fungible Token (NFT).


The unique NFTs certify a digital image of each visitor's unique ticket, showing the block, row and seat number. In addition to several visual effects, the digital crypto trading card also reminds that the NFL finals will be held in Los Angeles for the first time in 30 years.


As per the official announcement, the Super Bowl, in its fifty-sixth edition, will offer the first opportunity to interact with fans of the sport through NFTs in a whole new way.


Robert Gallo, the NFL vice president for club business development, explains that the league's football clubs have already experimented with crypto tickets mid-season.


To that end, he explains: "This novel opportunity has been a complete success so far, which is why we have decided to continue it in the playoffs and also include it for the Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles."


According to Gallo, NFL fans are already busy collecting the virtual NFT tickets, with the new crypto trading cards for the season finale already enjoying great popularity. With the publication of the Super Bowl NFTs, the league not only wants to make the big event sweeter for the fans beyond the day of the game, but also draw conclusions about how "NFTs in future in ticket sales and event management" can provide added value.


The NFL distributed the digital tickets to fans of this year's finalists, the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals, on Wednesday. The crypto collectibles reside on the Polygon blockchain and can be viewed on the league's official NFT website .

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726. So if reports are correct, over $40 million worth of NFTs were stolen in the attack.
