DAO raises $38 million

Numerous donations have been received in recent days in support of the fight for the freedom of Julian Assange.

The DAO, established to help free WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, is proving a resounding success. At the time of writing, 12,569 ETH have already been raised with a current value of $38.8 million. According to JuiceBox, the community funding platform that runs the campaign, the first donations came in on February 4th. Last weekend, the campaign really picked up speed again and then reached the current status.

According to the DAO's Twitter feed , it is now the largest JuiceBox Ethereum fundraiser in the history of the platform. It surpasses that of ConstitutionDAO, which raised funds to purchase an original copy of the United States Constitution in November.

However, this comparison is only correct if you take the ETH number as a reference value. Since the price of the second largest cryptocurrency was significantly higher then than it is now, ConsitutionDAO brought in the equivalent of around 49 million US dollars.

The AssangeDAO is bidding on an NFT artwork by Pak called “Censored”. This was created in direct cooperation with Assange. The indictment against Assange is seen worldwide as symptomatic of the state's handling of press freedom. If extradited to the US, the WikiLeaks founder could face up to 175 years in prison. The legal tug-of-war over the native Australian has now lasted for more than a decade.

Assange can appeal US verdict

The AssangeDAO emerged from a Telegram group. The trigger was a court decision in December. The US government had been able to enforce its appeal against a British court ruling prohibiting the extradition of Assange. A British court initially prohibited Assange's extradition to the United States, citing his unstable psyche and the associated risk of suicide. However, as things currently stand, Assange has the right to have this decision reviewed by the local Supreme Court. The AssangeDAO concept was inspired by the FreeRossDAO organization . She managed to raise $12 million to free Ross Ulbricht, founder of the Dark Web marketplace Silk Road.

Not a bear market: According to the analyst, the current BTC decline is the same as in previous Bitcoin cycles

According to one analyst, Bitcoin is behaving the same overall this year as it has in previous cycles. Bitcoin ( BTC ) will have “at least one more boost higher” before hitting all-time highs this halving cycle, analysts are currently saying. The well-known analyst TechDev has spoken on Twitter about the current state of BTC and said that contrary to many opinions, nothing unusual has happened in BTC/USD in 2022. Bitcoin in 2021: Nothing to see here Sentiment has also taken a hit, falling 40 percent from November's all-time high of $69,000. There is still “extreme fear” in the bitcoin and altcoin market. TechDev, known for his bullish views on Bitcoin, sees no reason to worry. He analyzed the new wallet addresses in relation to course behavior and shows here that the scenario from last year was by no means an isolated case. Back then, the number of new addresses made lower highs while the price made higher highs. "In 4 of the 6 corrections, there was divergence with price ma...

The 5 largest platforms for non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles

Since the beginning of 2021, non-fungible tokens (NFT) have had no holding back and the sector is setting new records almost every day.  More and more artists, stars and brands are realizing the potential - NFT are well on their way to catapulting the crypto space into the mainstream.  But which collectibles are currently the most popular? What are NFT? NFT are unique tokens that cannot be exchanged one-for-one for an equivalent token.  Any asset that is tokenizable can be an NFT.  This includes, for example, (digital) works of art, trading cards, game items and crypto domains.  Theoretically, however, real estate or securities can also be mapped as NFT. NFTs can be used to transparently map ownership structures on a public blockchain.  This allows them to store value just like real objects, even if additional copies are easy to make.  For example, the original picture of the Mona Lisa is significantly more valuable than a photo, as everyone kno...
