Beware of scams! – Binance CEO warns of fraudulent phishing SMS

Binance users are currently being redirected to a phishing website via a false SMS, which taps the access data for the trading platform.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has warned the crypto community about a “massive” phishing scam via SMS targeting Binance customers.

“CZ” personally issued the corresponding warning on Twitter yesterday (see below). In it, he urged users of his platform never (!) to click on the link sent in the fraudulent SMS.

In the SMS in question, users are led to believe that an unknown IP address has deducted money from their Binance accounts. The problem could be solved by clicking on the supposed link. However, this only redirects to a fraudulent website where the access data of the unsuspecting crypto users are tapped.

In general, Zhao points out that Binance users should always keep a cool head and head to the main page of the crypto exchange in the event of an apparent hacker attack or an illegal payout.

Although the new year is still young, 2022 has seen multiple cases of hacking and phishing, causing significant losses to crypto users and crypto projects alike.

As Cointelegraph reported, a vulnerability in crypto project Wormhole Token Bridge was exploited just Wednesday to steal 120,000 Wrapped Ether (wETH) worth a whopping $321 million. On January 17, 33.8 million US dollars in cryptocurrencies were stolen from the major trading platform Crypto.com .

Crypto users, meanwhile, have recently been warned about new malware affecting browser plugins for crypto wallets , including MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet .

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. Seth Green falls victim to phishing - hackers steal NFTs
