GTA Take-Two joins Web 3.0


 

The publisher of the game franchises Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, Take-Two Interactive, swallows the game developer Zynga for 12.7 billion US dollars. Zynga specializes in mobile games, with a focus on NFTs. With the takeover, the company behind Rockstar Games will focus on Web 3.0-based games.



Take-Two Interactice, the company behind the game manufacturer Rockstar Games, responsible for the well-known gaming series Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, is taking over the mobile games studio Zynga for 12.7 billion US dollars.

Zynga has focused on blockchain-based play-to-earn games with NFTs.

“The combination of Zynga's expertise in mobile and next-generation platforms with Take-Two's world-class capabilities and intellectual property will enable us to further advance our mission to connect the world through games while achieving significant growth and synergies together " explains Frank Gibeau, CEO of Zyng.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, explains that he wants to tackle new “Web3 opportunities” with the takeover.

Rumors have been circulating about a possible integration of cryptocurrencies in the new GTA part since last year.
