Banca Generali offers its customers direct Bitcoin purchases

 


The Italian Banca Generali integrates the Conio app and enables its customers to buy Bitcoin directly.

Italian bank Banca Generali plans to start offering bitcoin trading services from early 2022. This should be made possible by integrating the Conio wallet app. A report by the financial magazine We Wealth gives details of the new services from Banca Generali. Accordingly, thanks to Conio, the 300,000 customers of Banca Generali will be able to create a Bitcoin wallet directly from their bank accounts. The Banca has already invested several million US dollars in Conio. The fintech is based in both San Francisco and Italy.

We will complete the integration in early 2022. From that point on, clients will be able to safely operate in an asset class that could be risky if approached incorrectly. For us, this is another step towards completing our private hub with services and platforms available to our bankers and their customers 

Riccardo Renna, Chief Operation Officer and Head of Innovation at Banca Generali, told Wealth . The bank's plans envisage fully integrating Conio into Banca Generali's mobile banking app. Then customers will have direct access to buy and sell Bitcoin. So this happens in exactly the same environment that you already know from your other banking transactions. 

This also offers the advantage that the purchase and sale of Bitcoin is debited or credited directly to the checking account. It is therefore not necessary to pass on data to third parties. According to Renna, practically all customers are guaranteed the option of using their own wallets. However, Banca Generali constantly monitors the extent of the Bitcoin exposure in relation to its assets in order to protect it from excessive risk.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726. So if reports are correct, over $40 million worth of NFTs were stolen in the attack.
