Mercedes-Benz launches polygon-based data platform

The Southeast Asian branch of Mercedes-Benz dives into the world of blockchain and Co. With the “ Acentrik ” platform, they want to make the buying and selling of data more transparent.

Mercedes has been dealing with the topic since 2020. Acentrik entered beta in 2021.

The technical basis is Polygon, a sidechain of Ethereum.

Specifically, Acentrik stores encrypted metadata on the blockchain, which users can upload and offer via cloud services such as AWS.

The platform uses the stablecoin USDC as a means of payment.

The data is then output as an NFT.

The entire transaction process is handled using smart contracts.

Transparent data exchange in real time is essential for future mobility, such as autonomous driving. In this respect, the blockchain sounds like a tailor-made solution.
