Elon Musk continues to support DOGE: Vegas Loop now accepts Dogecoin payments

 


Elon Musk's tunneling company The Boring Company (TBC) is now offering customers to pay for rides on the Las Vegas Transit System with Dogecoin ( DOGE ).


The new payment option via BitPay has been available since July 1, according to a report by CNBC on Wednesday. A day earlier, the new Loop station at the Las Vegas Convention Center opened.


While The Boring Company hasn't officially confirmed the new payment method, founder Elon Musk responded to a comment on Twitter : "Support for Doge wherever possible."



On the same day, DogeDesigner, a graphic designer with the Dogecoin Foundation, shared a video on Twitter of him clicking through the Vegas Loop booking page and purchasing a day pass with 37.52 DOGE via BitPay.



Located under the Resorts World Las Vegas integrated resort, the new loop station is the fourth stop on the 1.7-mile Las Vegas Convention Center Loop. 


The underground tunnel system allows commuters to travel from one stop to the next in human-controlled Tesla electric vehicles.


That's a long way from the original plans for the "Hyperloop" in Las Vegas. With the help of a magnetic drive, this is to transport passenger capsules at high speed through a pressurized tunnel system.


The company, meanwhile, continues to work on introducing driverless vehicles to its Vegas transportation system.


Elon Musk also supports Dogecoin through other companies he runs.


Last December, the Tesla CEO announced that DOGE would be accepted for certain merchandise items . As a result, the Dogecoin price rose by 25 percent.


In May 2022, Musk announced that he would also offer the payment option at his space exploration company SpaceX. However, this had no significant impact on the course.


Dogecoin price is currently at $0.06851 and is up about 1.15 percent in the last 24 hours.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726. So if reports are correct, over $40 million worth of NFTs were stolen in the attack.
