Tether is expanding onto the Tezos blockchain with USDT

 


Market-leading stablecoin issuer Tether has announced that USDT is now coming to the Tezos blockchain. This is intended to make an important contribution to expanding the area of ​​crypto payments and decentralized financial services (DeFi) with another blockchain ecosystem.


As the associated press release states, the “USDT on Tezos is intended to serve as a driving force for revolutionary applications in the areas of payments, DeFi and more”. A Tether spokesman explains the added value of the stablecoin:


“Tether is not an investment product, but a financial tool to conduct online commerce, reduce volatility and provide a secure repository for international payments. Tether can be securely held, sent and received via the blockchain and is exchangeable for the underlying US dollar at any time.”

In this context, the speaker refers to the 12 blockchains on which Tether is already available, including Tezos soon:


“Tether is already usable on many different blockchains, these are: Solana, Ethereum, Kusama, Avalanche, Polkadot, Algorand, EOS, Liquid Network, Omni, Tron and Bitcoin Cash’s Standard Ledger Protocol.”

Tether CTO Paolo Ardoino is excited about the forthcoming expansion to another blockchain network that will further consolidate the stablecoin's market dominance over the next few years:
