Mastercard enters the NFT business

Mastercard is serious. At the beginning of the year, the credit card giant launched its crypto offensive – and is now plunging into NFT space.

In a blog post yesterday, June 9th, the company announced a partnership with several of the largest providers of NFTs, including Immutable X , Mintable , Nifty and The Sandbox .

Users can now shop for NFTs on these platforms with their Mastercard credit card – without purchasing crypto first. "With 2.9 billion Mastercard cards worldwide, this change could have a major impact on the NFT ecosystem," the company writes.

Mastercard already filed around 15 crypto patents and trademarks with the responsible US office in April 2022 .

It also provides its services to the Coinbase -NFT marketplace.
