Due to the risk of absconding – South Korea prevents Terra employees from leaving the country

 


The key employees of the crashed blockchain project Terra ( LUNA ), which was headquartered in South Korea, are being refused exit by the local authorities.


As the South Korean news portal reported on Monday , the Seoul police department has apparently imposed an exit ban on several important heads of Terraform Labs. This measure is intended to prevent the persons concerned from fleeing the country while the investigation into the project is ongoing.


However, Terra Managing Director Do Kwon, who is probably the decisive figure behind the debacle, is already in Singapore, i.e. outside South Korea or outside the influence of the South Korean authorities. Because of this, law enforcement is considering voiding Kwon's passport to prevent him from continuing to flee.


Apparently, however, the Terra employees were not personally informed about the travel ban . This only became known when Daniel Hong, a former employee of the crypto project, could not start his planned trip to the USA. The police probably want to prevent the people concerned from being startled and destroying evidence.

Hong has himself sharply criticized the ban on leaving the country, because it would involve a kind of prejudice that he believes is unacceptable. In addition, the willingness of the Terra employees to cooperate would probably be significantly reduced as a result.
