Due to new lockdown - Yahoo hosts Metaverse events for Hong Kong population

 


The major search engine Yahoo has announced several events on the subject of Metaverse and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) for Hong Kong after Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook) presented its own Metaverse plans for the region a day earlier.


As the American search engine Yahoo has now announced, several virtual events, including concerts, will soon be held in Decentraland's Metaverse for users in Hong Kong.


Lorraine Cheung, director of public relations at Yahoo Hong Kong, explains that the search engine sees the Metaverse as an attractive alternative for Hong Kong people to interact socially. The background is that corona protection measures in the form of a new lockdown came into force in the country on June 9th, so the 2G rule applies again to large parts of the public.


"We hope that the Metaverse can connect people regardless of time and space."

Yahoo will also host a virtual NFT exhibition called The Abyss of Kwun Tong, where local artists can showcase digital crypto art about the historical district of Kwun Tong.
