Dogecoin is “used for the heaviest types of crime”

According to a report by Elliptic , Dogecoin is to be used on a large scale for criminal purposes.

The "fluffy appeal of its Shiba Inu mascot" has not prevented the cryptocurrency from being "used by illegal actors for the most serious types of crime," it said.

According to the report, Elliptic Dogecoin has tracked "millions of dollars worth" of transactions related to "fraud, scams and pyramid schemes," including "the most serious types of crime, such as terrorist financing and sales of child sexual abuse material."

Most of the funds came from investor fraud. Elliptic speaks of “hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Dogecoin” that “have been captured”.

DOGE holdings could also be traced back to addresses controlled by Hamas, Elliptic said. Around $40,000 in Dogecoin is said to be there.
