Brian Armstrong Responds to Angry Coinbase Employees' Petition

A disgruntled Coinbase employee posted a petition on Mirror.xyz website Thursday, using the alias 0x58E3, calling for the resignation of three executives at the trading platform. The petition, called Operation Revive COIN, has since been deleted but is still available on the Internet Archive and other websites . Now Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has also commented.

The actual target of the demands for resignation in the Coinbase boardroom are Chief Operating Officer Emilie Choi, Chief Product Officer Surojit Chatterjee and Chief People Officer LJ Brock, as their “plans and ideas have caused questionable results and a bad working atmosphere”. The petition author details eight of those misconducts, including the poor launch of the NFT trading platform , reversals of new hires, general mismanagement and the development of a toxic work environment.

"We hope to find new candidates who have experience within the crypto industry and can lead our company with more responsibility."

Coinbase co-founder Brian Armstrong detailed the demands in 16 tweets on Friday, with the incumbent CEO first noting that "our company culture is to be criticized internally, not by the general public." At the same time, Armstrong is surprised that he himself is not on the petition's hit list. Finally, he replies that it should actually be the dissatisfied employees who leave the company.

Coinbase stock suffered in May, but so has the crypto industry as a whole given the weak market environment. In addition, rumors of insider trading on the crypto exchange recently caused a stir.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726.
