Vitalik Buterin: According to his own statements, he is no longer a billionaire

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum , announced on Twitter that he is no longer a billionaire. Due to the current bear market, the value of his portfolio has fallen from around $1.4 billion to $600 million.

Vitalik Buterin 's post was in response to a tweet praising Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos for reaching out directly to their fans. In defense of the two billionaires, the founder of Ethereum wrote :

“What happened to the virtue of “speaking directly to people”? By the way, I appreciate that Elon and Jeff are actually answering people and not just promoting their own stuff."

In response to his own tweet, Buterin wrote: "Btw btw I'm not a billionaire anymore."

Vitalik Buterin's wallet

So how can we tell how much money Buterin has left? The benefit of blockchain technology is that everything can be accurately tracked. Coinmarketcap published a wallet address of Vitalik Buterin where everyone can see exactly how many tokens the Ethereum co-founder has.

If the information on the website is correct, there are currently 290,000 ETH in Buterin's wallet . At current prices, that equates to a little over $600 million.

How much was Buterin's ETH worth at all-time high?

The Ethereum course and also the Bitcoin course reached their last all-time highs in November last year. The second-largest cryptocurrency was fluctuating around $4,900 at the time. If you multiply the value by the 290,000 ETH that are in his wallet, it turns out that Buterin held around $1.4 billion in ETH at the time.

However, since the Ethereum price has fallen by more than 50% since then, Vitalik Buterin still owns around 42% of the $1.4 billion. But we don't have to worry about him, he still has a large private fortune. But he is no longer a member of the “three comma club,” a term mentioned by Dogecoin ’s creator . Being in the three commas club means being a billionaire.

Three commas means one billion US dollars, because 1,000,000,000 US dollars has 3 commas in English notation.

Vitalik Buterin donated $1 billion

From the looks of it, the Ethereum founder doesn't just seem to care about money and wealth. In May 2021, when most cryptocurrencies were hitting their highs, Vitalik Buterin received over $1 billion worth of Shiba Inu tokens. Other memecoin teams and communities simply sent him tokens back then. Instead of keeping the money, he donated the money to the Indian Covid-Found. Just recently, Buterin got back 100 million of the 1 billion donations in the form of stablecoin USDC. He donated this again for medical research.

In addition, Buterin donated $1500 Ethereum (about $5 million at the time) to Ukraine in 2022 .

About Vitalik Buterin

Vitalik Buterin was just 19 years old when he helped create what is currently the second largest cryptocurrency (by market capitalization). The software developer and author was born in Russia in 1994, his family emigrated to Canada a little later. Buterin became the youngest crypto billionaire in the world at the age of 27 (2021) , according to Forbes . In 2013 he wrote down his original thoughts on Ethereum in a white paper . He then shared his idea and then co-founded Ethereum with Gavin Wood, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson , Anthony Di Iorio and Joseph Lubin.

From offchain to offchain: Statechains meets Lightning

Without a doubt, the most significant off-chain Bitcoin solution is the Lightning network. But in its wake, the statechain has emerged as an intriguing replacement. There is currently a proposal to link the two offchain networks. From an ocean, for example, you can see sunbeams glistening in the water, waves rippling, and possibly a jellyfish drifting toward the light. But you only see a small portion of it. The distance from the sea's surface to its bottom is hundreds of meters. It has dozens of different fish species swimming in it, crabs and starfish crawling on the bottom, shells clinging to rocks, and sea plants climbing up. A completely new world starts where your gaze diverges. You can picture a blockchain like Bitcoin, just like the sea. What you see on the outside is only a small portion of what is actually there; the set of UTXOs (coins) and transaction history that full nodes store are just the beginning of a much larger world. It's the plan, at least. With Bitcoin

MSP Recovery and Tokenology aim to optimize healthcare with the help of Polygon

MSP Recovery LLC, a Miami, US-based healthcare provider with an estimated enterprise value of $32.6 billion, is partnering with Web3 company Tokenology to jointly launch a new blockchain platform called Lifechain. Lifechain wants to leverage the verifiable and transparent nature of blockchain technology to aggregate medical care claims, medical expense reports and patient data and streamline their processing. For this purpose, MSP Recovery launched its own LifeWallet in January, which already has 1 million users. In addition to the wallet and blockchain platform, an associated crypto token called LifeCoin is also used. The press release explains that the primary purpose of the system is to enable secondary healthcare providers to more effectively bill health insurance companies for their costs. “The number of medical claims tokenized going forward will surpass $50 million per day by 2024. For this we need scalability, security and sustainability, which we have only found with Polygon

British financial regulator criticizes cooperation between Binance and Paysafe

The British financial regulator FCA has expressed concerns about the partnership between market-leading crypto exchange Binance and payment service provider Paysafe. As the British regulator complains, the partnership gives Binance access to the influential British payment network Faster Payments Service (FPS), from which the crypto exchange was previously cut off. Last June, the FCA ordered Binance to stop all business activities in Great Britain. As a result, prominent banks such as Barclays have terminated their cooperation with the leading crypto trading platform . Through the cooperation with Paysafe, Binance can now again offer deposits in British pounds sterling and transactions within the European Payments Area (SEPA). However, this fact is a thorn in the side of the FCA, as it classifies the crypto exchange as a “considerable risk factor”. However, the financial regulator sees little room for maneuver to counteract this, as the Financial Times reports . “ Paysafe understands
