Mercedes and FTX sell Formula 1 NFT collection

 


FTX and Mercedes continue to advance into the NFT space together.


Mercedes announced on April 30, 2022 that it would launch a Formula 1 NFT collection in partnership with crypto exchange FTX . Some of the NFTs are free.

Together with crypto exchange FTX, Mercedes plans to launch a series of NFTs in 2022. These should be designed by well-known artists. According to Mercedes, they want to use the NFTs to “connect with fans in a new way”.


Throughout 2022, free NFT ticket stubs will be distributed at races. The fans can build up their own collection for free. Mercedes intends to create a new community of fans and dealers. On May 6, 2022, FTX's US NFT Marketplace will kick off the first auction of NFTs to coincide with the Miami Grand Prix, where participants can receive 1000 free NFT ticket stubs. In addition, Mercedes is set to unveil some unique and rare NFTs at launch. The auction ends on May 13, 2022.

Collecting memorabilia has always been an important part of loving your favorite sports team and we're excited to create these really cool digital collectibles, opening up new ways for fans to get closer to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. "

Fans can purchase auto parts through NFTs

Aside from the ticket subs, the project will also run some auctions related to physical items. For example, at the upcoming race in Miami, the rear wings of Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will feature artwork by the series' first collaborative artist, Mad Dog. Mercedes will auction the rear wings together with the NFT artworks and FTX.


Both FTX and Mercedes have been involved in the NFT space for quite some time. The FTX exchange offers its own Solana -based NFT marketplace . Mercedes, in turn, launched the first NFT collection in January 2022 .

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726. So if reports are correct, over $40 million worth of NFTs were stolen in the attack.
