Twitter and Stripe launch USDC payments program via Polygon

On Friday, the social network Twitter, together with the payment service Stripe, announced the launch of the crypto payment function Stripe Connect . As the two companies explain, certain influencers on Twitter will soon be able to accept payments in the form of the USD Coin ( USDC ) stablecoin. Payments are processed via the Polygon ( MATIC ) blockchain network, which is a Layer 2 solution with low transaction fees, high transaction speeds, innovative zero-knowledge technology and the integration of Ethereum ( ETH ).

In order to use the centralized payment platform, however, the influencers at Stripe must first disclose their information (KYC). Account settings, income and payouts in crypto wallets can then be managed via the service.

By the end of the year, Twitter and Stripe plan to expand the payment function to 120 countries. Esther Crawford, Twitter product lead for influencer affairs, comments:

"We're excited to finally be able to offer crypto payments via Stripe, because it gives influencers even more ways to receive money."

At press time, Twitter is threatened with a "hostile takeover" by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. As the successful entrepreneur states, in the event of a successful takeover, he plans, among other things, to stop tweets from fraudulent crypto projects and to introduce Dogecoin ( DOGE ) as a means of payment for the Twitter Blue subscription service .

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link.
