Trezor customers received fake emails over the weekend with attackers trying to steal the seed phrases.
Apparently, email marketing service MailChimp was "compromised by an insider targeting crypto companies," Trezor wrote on Twitter .
In the fake emails, Trezor users were informed about alleged security gaps.
They were then prompted to download a fake version of Trezor Suite software from a fraudulent domain.
“A fraudulent email is circulating warning of a data breach. Do not open emails coming from noreply@trezor.us, it is a phishing domain,” Trezor said.
Trezor advises customers to “refrain from opening emails that appear to be from Trezor until further notice”.
The phishing domain has since been taken offline.
So far it is unclear how many email addresses are affected.
