Phantom celebrates Android release – Solana keeps feathering

 


What Metamask is to Ethereum, Phantom is to Solana. At the beginning of the year, the popular wallet was launched on iOS and began to conquer the mobile payments sector. Phantom was officially released for Android yesterday and is available for download on the Google Playstore .


Although it is not the only wallet for Solana, Phantom generally impresses with its design and usability. With Solana Pay , they launched a piece of infrastructure together in partnership with Circle, targeting an area that lies beyond NFTs and DeFi protocols and should make it easier to accept payments based on Solana.


In February, the company behind Phantom raised $109 million at a $1.2 billion valuation. According to Phantom , the Android launch immediately caused a lot of growth in Vietnam, India and Indonesia.


Solana falls behind

Despite the fact that a lot is happening at Solana, it can currently only claim 5th place among the largest blockchains if you use the TVL as a benchmark. While Terra, with its decentralized stablecoin TerraUSD, increasingly dominates the market in this segment, Avalanche was able to overtake Solana in other areas.


This may also be due to the fact that comparatively few protocols are still available on Solana. The Binance Smart Chain has almost six times as many DeFi protocols as Solana and Avalanche also has more than three times as much to offer.


In the long run, Solana will only be able to grow if you follow suit in this regard. However, the latest report did not move the SOL price. However, the market was able to recover from a moment of shock in which Bitcoin briefly slipped below the $40,000 mark. Thus, at press time, Solana is trading at $103 and remains in a hold position.
