The Warner Music Group is one of the world's music labels. The company recently announced its own concerts in the Metaverse. Now they want to enter blockchain gaming with a new cooperation. What is the music giant up to?
Warner Music Group (WMG) announced in an official press release today, Wednesday, February 23 , that they have entered into a cooperation with Splinterlands . It's the second foray into the Metaverse for Warner Music Group. Only at the end of January of this year was it announced that it had acquired a plot of land in the blockchain game The Sandbox . The music giant would like to host its own virtual corporations on this in the future - BTC-ECHO reported .
With the cooperation with Splinterlands announced today, the group is once again underlining that it is serious about its new virtual orientation. The cooperation with the gaming company is one of the hopes for new potential sources of income for the musicians under contract with WMG, according to Oana Ruxandra, Chief Digital Officer at Warner Music. Splinterland's CEO and co-founder Jesse "Aggroed" Reich also said he was excited about the partnership with the music giant. For this it says:
Warner Music Group is a leader in the music industry. She is innovating the music industry to meet the standards set by members of the Web 3.0 community. We are thrilled to be working with them and I look forward to new collaborations at the intersection of gaming, music, crypto, NFTs, Defi and blockchain.

But what exactly are the two companies planning? The official press release states:
By moving towards arcade gaming, Splinterlands and WMG will create mobile-friendly, easily accessible games that will find wider acceptance and encourage community building more easily than traditional play-to-win games.

In addition, it is said that Warner Music artists would like to be able to develop their own play-to-earn games in the future. Considering that names such as Ed Sheeran and Californian band Red Hot Chili Peppers are signed to WGM, it looks like a good deal for Splinterlands in the first place. It remains to be seen what exactly will result for WMG in the end.
What does Splinterlands do?
Blockchain-based games have been gaining popularity lately and are in increasing demand. At least Axie Infinity has shown that blockchain gaming is here to stay.
