Sportsbet Entain wants to compete in the Metaverse

 


Global sports betting and gaming company Entain announced on Monday that it is launching a project for the Metaverse.



Sportsbook Enttain is targeting the Metaverse

International sports betting and gaming company Entain is investing $133 million to create a global innovation lab focused on entertainment experiences in the Metaverse. Specifically, the company wants to finance start-ups and develop applications for NFTs.


Entain's first lab is set up in London, linked to the Ennovate global innovation hub, to develop new interactive products for the company's customers.


The group, which includes Ladbrokes and PartyPoker, among others, will work with companies such as Verizon, BT and Theta Labs to develop new products through Ennovate and work with some non-governmental organizations to achieve social and environmental benefits.


At the heart of this and future Ennovate labs will be an Experience Zone, allowing customers, investors, partners and employees to try new immersive experiences in sports, games and interactive entertainment. CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen said in a statement:


"We aim to lead the way with new, exciting products and experiences for our customers and leverage our cutting-edge technology to drive innovation in sports, games and interactive entertainment for the metaverse."


The move comes after 12 months in which the UK gambling industry has seen a wave of mergers and record profits, but also increased scrutiny over the harmful effects of online gambling and the heavy losses some players are suffering.



The digital environment leveraging virtual reality, blockchain and social media concepts has quickly become an attractive niche for many individuals and businesses. Walmart has filed filings with local regulators to get into this space. The company will allow its users to purchase electronics, home decor, personal care products, and many other items by reviewing the goods through the Metaverse.
