RSS3 aims to become a decentralized information processor for Web3



 The developers behind the project have stated that work on RSS3 could take another 6-8 months.


Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is the first information distribution protocol to gain widespread acceptance across the Internet. With the decentralized information processing protocol called RSS3, the protocol now also wants to conquer Web3.


In a technical white paper on Monday, RSS3 presented its plans for migrating its popular Internet feed update to Web3. RSS3 will provide each company with an RSS3 file that serves as a data source and is constantly updated. The source data file can then be used as an aggregate of all cyber activities, which can then be used to build social media, content networks, games and other data-driven applications. The source data controls which information is to be disseminated and which is to remain secret.


RSS is a feed file that contains a summary of updates to a web page, usually in the form of a hyperlinked list of articles. These feed files were meant to be decentralized and have played a key role in sharing information on the internet. However, the monopoly of the centralized providers of web hosting services has led to the development of the decentralized RSS3.


The white paper notes that building a decentralized information processing protocol from scratch is quite a complex task and it could take another six to eight months to build RSS3 nodes. The developers are in the process of building a decentralized, autonomous organization system as well. But they believe that true decentralization will take time.


The development team has partnered with Ethereum, Arweave, Polygon, Binance Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Flow and xDai Chain to introduce the protocol to various decentralized networks.


The team behind the decentralized protocol has raised capital in two hours of funding so far, involving Coinbase Ventures, Dapper Labs, Dragonfly Capital, and Fabric Ventures, among others.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726. So if reports are correct, over $40 million worth of NFTs were stolen in the attack.
