"We need to relate to future generations and offer them products to help fight the global hunger crisis, but at the same time make the products engaging and interactive," said Shawn Kurz.
When he's not designing merch for the NBA or delivering coffee to major retailers, Shawn Kurz is using blockchain technology to fight world hunger.
To solve the problems with traditional charity systems, Kurz founded FoodChain Global (FCG). This organization uses a blockchain ecosystem to support charitable initiatives to end world hunger.
With the help of former military systems engineer Cody Boyd, who leads a blockchain development team, FCG has launched digital asset products such as FoodChain Global Token (FOOD) and non-fungible token (NFT) and uses the profits to fund food banks with food to supply.
Kurz told Cointelegraph that the project aims to educate younger generations about the fight against world hunger. The team aims to offer end-to-end digital products that appeal to millennials and Gen Z, who are fascinated by the digital world.

According to Kurz, many of the current blockchain projects, especially meme coins, have made little to no contribution to the real world. He calls on the community to let words speak for themselves. "Strong business leaders should present the good sides of the technology".
Currently, FCG has launched Polygon-based FOOD tokens, NFTs and crypto merchandise with proceeds going to the Daily Bread Food Bank and Haven on the Queensway food supply.
"Most people who donate to charity just donate and never get any tangible proof that the money was used," Kurz said. However, the FCG founder mentioned that people buying FOOD tokens can easily track where their money is going via Polygon's blockchain explorer.
With the publicly available transactions on Polyscan, anyone can understand the movement of assets within the FCG ecosystem. This way people can track their amount and control if it goes to charity. Kurz said this would allow the public to hold the company accountable.
There are now a growing number of crypto charities dedicated to various causes . Many blockchain-based projects have contributed to initiatives and raised millions of dollars. Crypto donation platform The Giving Block reported in February that crypto donations increased 16x in 2021 .
