MOBILE GAME WORMS FACES STRONG CRITICISM OVER NFT PLANS

The gaming company Team 17 planned to integrate NFT functions for the well-known game Worms. But the community is anything but enthusiastic about this project.

Team 17, the developer of the world-famous game Worms, in which small worms try to steal each other's life energy in teams, announced some time ago that they have plans to incorporate various NFT functions. The company was not yet aware that its community was not at all convinced. That's why the video game publisher announced yesterday that it would put its plans on hold for the time being. The spokesman explained the decision in a tweet:

We have listened to our Teamsters, development partners and the community behind our games and the concerns they have raised and as a result we have made the decision to withdraw from the NFT space.

The publisher had planned with the NFT idea, in cooperation with Reality Gaming Group, to create a collage of the worms as collectibles. The Worms franchise, which was 26 years old, served as inspiration for the collection. There should also be different levels of rarity here.

Strong criticism from the partners

But not only the gaming community was not convinced of the project. Criticism went so far that Aggro Crab, a longtime partner of Team 17 , threatened to end the partnership if the NFT project went ahead. With a clear statement, Aggro Crab explained the consequences of continuing the NFT project:

We will not be working with you on additional titles and encourage other indie developers to do the same if this decision is not reversed.

However, Team 17 isn't the only company that has come under heavy criticism. Leading game publishers Ubisoft, Konami and Square Enix also had plans to integrate NFT's into their games. But this also met with strong resistance from their community members. Unlike Team 17, however, Ubisoft is continuing the NFT project. On the Ubisoft Quartz NFT platform, they introduced Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

Conclusion on the withdrawal of the NFT plans

Team 17 has listened to the reactions of their community and put the project on hold. This confirms that not everyone shares the current enthusiasm for NFTs. Kanye West also commented negatively on this topic. In a post on Instagram, he wrote the words by hand on a piece of paper:

My focus is on creating real products in the real world, real food, real clothes, real shelters. Don't ask me to do an NFT!

The 5 largest platforms for non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles

Since the beginning of 2021, non-fungible tokens (NFT) have had no holding back and the sector is setting new records almost every day.  More and more artists, stars and brands are realizing the potential - NFT are well on their way to catapulting the crypto space into the mainstream.  But which collectibles are currently the most popular? What are NFT? NFT are unique tokens that cannot be exchanged one-for-one for an equivalent token.  Any asset that is tokenizable can be an NFT.  This includes, for example, (digital) works of art, trading cards, game items and crypto domains.  Theoretically, however, real estate or securities can also be mapped as NFT. NFTs can be used to transparently map ownership structures on a public blockchain.  This allows them to store value just like real objects, even if additional copies are easy to make.  For example, the original picture of the Mona Lisa is significantly more valuable than a photo, as everyone kno...

CARDALONIA: THE CARDANO METAVERSE OPENS THE GATES!

Have you ever been to Cardalonia? With these words, the Cardano Metaverse called Cardalonia starts the gates. In this 3D world, developers and users can interact with each other. First of all, users have to create an individual character with which they can move online. After that you can enter one of the worlds built by developers with this character. You can also purchase your own land in the Cardano Metaverse via the marketplaces in Cardalonia . This is secured by Cardano's blockchain technology and therefore offers a relatively secure transfer of ownership. Since these are only digital plots of land, it is not yet entirely clear when the plots of land are purchased whether they can also be sold again in the future. A possible profit cannot be estimated at the moment. In Cardalonia, the cryptocurrency Lonia is used. The maximum amount of tokens in circulation is 100,000,000. The team consists of Alice Sand (Co-Founder), Vasil Air (CTO) and Dustan Water (Fullstack Developer). T...
