Japan may well see some kind of altcoin dawn soon. The government is considering relaxing strict listing requirements.
Exchanges that want to list new coins in Japan currently have to go through a lengthy screen process. This lasts at least six months.
But that could change soon. According to Bloomberg information, exchanges will soon be able to launch entire bundles of new coins.
The proposed changes came at the urging of the Japan Virtual and Crypto Exchange Association (JVCEA). This would be an advantage, especially for newcomers like Coinbase Global Inc. After all, they could then list a whole range of coins right at the beginning.
The largest Japanese exchanges Coincheck and GMO Coin only have 17 coins and tokens on offer. For comparison: Coinbase US has over 100 coins listed.
