Central Park Gold Cube Turns Out To Be Another NFT Stunt

 


The mystery of a mysterious golden cube in New York's Central Park has been solved: it's an advertisement for an NFT sale.


A few days ago, a cube made of real gold mysteriously appeared in the middle of New York's Central Park. Now more and more details are coming to light that explain its origin - and the reason for its appearance. Since the cube's material value is nearly $12 million, the cube was surrounded by an entire entourage of security guards. The German crypto artist Niclas Castello identified himself as the author of the action. He is also the namesake of the Castello Coin. The whole thing is supposed to be a promotion for the new CAST token.

However, the cube is by no means completely made of solid gold, but hollow on the inside. According to the portal "Artnet" , the cube is about a meter long on the sides and half a meter long and has a wall thickness of about 0.6 centimeters. If the cube were made entirely of solid gold, it would weigh about 2.4 tons. Several Twitter users immediately mocked it - the cube was symptomatic of an inflated crypto world that always offered more appearances than reality.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link.
