With Activision into the Metaverse: Microsoft is competing with Facebook

Microsoft wants to swallow the game developer Activision Blizzard for around 69 billion US dollars. The deal also promises the group larger market shares in the Metaverse.

The group wants to take over the game developer Activision Blizzard for around 69 billion US dollars.

The acquisition is scheduled for mid-2023 and will be reviewed by antitrust authorities beforehand, the company announced in a press release .

With the mega deal, Microsoft also wants to accelerate the development of the Metaverse.

"This acquisition will accelerate the growth of Microsoft's mobile, PC, console and cloud games business and provide building blocks for the Metaverse," Microsoft said.

Microsoft should thus be in direct competition with Meta (formerly Facebook).
