Vitalik Buterin gives his critics freedom to criticize

Ethereum boss Buterin welcomes heavy criticism on social media and has been pelted with a few salty memes mixed with legitimate criticism.

The prominent Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who is also the figurehead of the leading smart contract platform, has requested “the craziest and most unrestrained criticism” of himself in the crypto community.

The bold call came tongue-in-cheek on Twitter on Friday, with Buterin first listing some of his "favourite" statements about himself. The Ethereum founder showed a lot of self-mockery, because the tweets in question are quite insulting. For example, one user says Vitalik "looks like a drug-addicted alien."

A large number of crypto users reacted to the current request in a very short time, so Buterin's tweet has now collected more than 14,000 likes.

Vitalik's father also took part in the discussion, referring to the conspiracy theory that his son is an alleged secret agent of Russia and that Ethereum was developed on the orders of Vladimir Putin.

Vitalik , in turn, recalls being referred to as Hitler by "two different trolls on Reddit" in the past.

The background to this nasty comparison is that the successful crypto project Ethereum, which has gained more than 778,000% in value since it was founded in 2015, is considered to be heavily “centralized”, or controlled by a central authority around Buterin. Another Twitter user dug up an old meme from 2017 in this regard , titled "Spider Vitalik Ponzi". It shows Buterin sitting “like a spider” in the web of the “scam project” Ethereum.

However, it was not just macabre criticism, but also just funny pictures related to the Ethereum boss that were shared. These include, for example, the following play on words based on Buterin's name. For example, by removing the first letter, Vitalik simply becomes "Italik", whereupon the blockchain developer "italic" leans to the right.

Mixing in with all the humor is substantive criticism, which is also packaged in a rather fun way. For example , a user posts a photo montage showing a heavily aged Buterin, under which a news ticker runs with the message that “Ethereum 2.0 has finally been released”. An allusion to the long wait that the switch to the big Ethereum upgrade is already taking.

Overall, the Twitter thread gives a good overview of how heavily Buterin has been criticized in the years since Ethereum was founded. Much of it with black humor and not meant to be taken seriously, but Vitalik also had to put up with justified criticism during this time. But of course there are also voices that appreciate his previous achievements. Finally, ConsenSys employee John Lilic points out that Buterin “has been working on making the crypto industry better since day 1”.

The 5 largest platforms for non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles

Since the beginning of 2021, non-fungible tokens (NFT) have had no holding back and the sector is setting new records almost every day.  More and more artists, stars and brands are realizing the potential - NFT are well on their way to catapulting the crypto space into the mainstream.  But which collectibles are currently the most popular? What are NFT? NFT are unique tokens that cannot be exchanged one-for-one for an equivalent token.  Any asset that is tokenizable can be an NFT.  This includes, for example, (digital) works of art, trading cards, game items and crypto domains.  Theoretically, however, real estate or securities can also be mapped as NFT. NFTs can be used to transparently map ownership structures on a public blockchain.  This allows them to store value just like real objects, even if additional copies are easy to make.  For example, the original picture of the Mona Lisa is significantly more valuable than a photo, as everyone kno...

CARDALONIA: THE CARDANO METAVERSE OPENS THE GATES!

Have you ever been to Cardalonia? With these words, the Cardano Metaverse called Cardalonia starts the gates. In this 3D world, developers and users can interact with each other. First of all, users have to create an individual character with which they can move online. After that you can enter one of the worlds built by developers with this character. You can also purchase your own land in the Cardano Metaverse via the marketplaces in Cardalonia . This is secured by Cardano's blockchain technology and therefore offers a relatively secure transfer of ownership. Since these are only digital plots of land, it is not yet entirely clear when the plots of land are purchased whether they can also be sold again in the future. A possible profit cannot be estimated at the moment. In Cardalonia, the cryptocurrency Lonia is used. The maximum amount of tokens in circulation is 100,000,000. The team consists of Alice Sand (Co-Founder), Vasil Air (CTO) and Dustan Water (Fullstack Developer). T...
