New NFT marketplace LooksRare offers rewards for traders

 


NFT trading continues to be high in volume. Therefore, new NFT trading platforms continue to be opened.


LooksRare is a recently opened NFT marketplace and aims to index all NFT collections on the Ethereum blockchain. The website celebrated its opening on Monday with a token airdrop.


The LooksRare marketplace was launched by two anonymous co-founders, Zodd and Guts, and claims it was developed "by NFT people for NFT people". The blog announcement said the LooksRare team was "annoyed with manufacturers failing to find a platform and with decision-makers who put their business above the community and seek an IPO instead of supporting the community that got them there to have".


According to the team, the solution is to offer a marketplace that rewards participants and manufacturers on the platform. Users who buy or sell NFTs from certain collections can earn LOOKS tokens. OpenSea users who traded 3 ETH or more between June 16 and December 16, 2021 are entitled to an airdrop of LOOKS tokens.


In addition, the platform charges a standard fee of 2 percent on all NFT transactions, which is even lower than the fee for OpenSea (2.5 percent). This fee goes to those who stake LOOKS tokens. Users can trade NFTs with Ether or Wrapped Ether (WETH). At press time was LOOKS at a value of 0.0008748 weth , which is about 2.69 US dollars.


The LooksRare website was unavailable for a few hours on Monday. For some users, this led to problems connecting to their wallets and quoting. According to the project's Discord channel, there was a DDoS attack on the website. Such an attack means that the network is being intentionally overloaded with high traffic.



On Monday, the Associated Press news agency also announced an NFT marketplace. She plans to open her NFT photojournalism platform on January 31st.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726.
