MoneyGram CEO is optimistic about the cryptocurrency market



 MoneyGram's CEO is optimistic about the cryptocurrency space following the company's recent investment.

MoneyGram, one of the leading money transfer companies in the world, has a 4% stake in Coinme. Coinme is one of the leading cryptocurrency ATM operators in the world and is present in numerous countries.

MoneyGram CEO Alex Holmes said the company was optimistic about the cryptocurrency market. That's why it has invested in Coinme and wants to expand its presence in the crypto space.

"At MoneyGram, we remain optimistic about the tremendous opportunities that exist in the ever-expanding world of cryptocurrency and our ability to act as a compliant bridge to connect digital assets to the local fiat currency," he  said.

The cryptocurrency market has seen massive growth in recent years, with total market capitalization now standing at around $ 2 trillion. Market capitalization hit an all-time high of $ 3 trillion in November, but the bearish trend has impacted the performance of Bitcoin and the other leading cryptocurrencies.

Even so, Holmes claimed that MoneyGram sees enormous potential in the cryptocurrency space in the years to come. The company intends to expand its partnership with Coinme and expand its presence in the crypto space. Holmes added:

"As we accelerate our innovation efforts, partnerships with startups like Coinme will strengthen our position as an industry leader in the use of blockchain and related technologies."

The MoneyGram CEO also emphasized:

"Our unique cash-to-bitcoin offering with Coinme, announced in May 2021, opened our business to a whole new segment of customers, and we couldn't be happier with our progress."

In May last year, MoneyGram launched a service that enables its customers in the US to exchange their cryptocurrencies for fiat currencies. The company said it was determined to bridge the gap between bitcoin and fiat currencies.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726. So if reports are correct, over $40 million worth of NFTs were stolen in the attack.
