Ethereum trading is now also possible on the Bakkt platform



The digital asset platform Bakkt Holdings Inc. has announced that its users can now also buy and sell Ethereum (ETH). They can also send ETH tokens to others directly via the Bakkt app.

Ethereum is not the first cryptocurrency available on Bakkt. Bitcoin was previously included in the offer. This gives users access to both major cryptocurrencies, which make up more than half of the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies.

Bakkt CEO Gavin Michael commented on this move:

Bakkt users already have the option to use Bitcoin with the app. We are confident that Ethereum will complement our growing ecosystem of partners and assets.

Survey: retail investor interest in cryptocurrencies like Ethereum is growing

The news comes at a time when interest in cryptocurrencies is steadily growing among investors. Bakkt recently conducted a survey of US consumers on this subject. This revealed that almost half of those surveyed had bought some form of cryptocurrency within the last year. Many of those who haven't done so have expressed an interest in investing before the end of 2021.

Michael explained:

For Bakkt, first and foremost is that digital assets can be flexibly made available to our users. With Ethereum, we have added a popular and growing cryptocurrency to our range.

Over the past year, Ethereum has grown in size significantly. It is now the second-largest digital currency after Bitcoin. By giving its users access to Ethereum, Bakkt facilitates the flow of digital commerce in line with the company's mission to connect the digital economy.

Bakkt's platform is available through a mobile app. It offers its users a number of loyalty programs and numerous opportunities to use digital currencies. The company was founded in 2018, making it a relatively new player in the crypto market.

Phishing attack on popular crypto sites tries to empty wallets

  Several major crypto sites such as Etherscan, CoinGecko, DeFi Pulse, and others report malicious pop-ups scammers use to try to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. The phishing attack came from a domain displaying the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) logo. "We are investigating the root cause of this attack to fix the threat as soon as possible," CoinGecko founder Bobby Ong tweeted. The phishing attack appears to have been triggered by a malicious ad script from Coinzilla, a crypto ad network, according to CoinGecko. Etherscan also advises its users not to confirm any transactions that may appear on the website. The attackers attempted to use the hype around the “bored monkeys” non-fungible tokens (NFT) to gain access to the cryptocurrencies of unsuspecting website visitors. Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs stolen through phishing on Instagram

  Bored Ape Yacht Club ( BAYC ) developers announced on Monday that hackers have hijacked the official Instagram page of the popular NFT collection and posted links to a fake airdrop. Crypto enthusiasts who connected their MetaMask wallet to the rogue website subsequently had their Ape NFTs stolen. Apparently, the attack was planned to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the BAYC collection. This increased the "perceived credibility" of the phishing link. About 100 NFTs are said to have been stolen in the phishing attack . According to CoinGecko data , the minimum price for a BAYC NFT is 139 Ether ( ETH ) or $400,726. So if reports are correct, over $40 million worth of NFTs were stolen in the attack.
